About Sarah Meng, LPC

I received a Bachelor of Arts from Agnes Scott College in psychology and women’s studies and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. For more than a decade, my clinical work and research interests have focused on gender, sexuality, fat liberation, and resilience.

I have extensive training in trauma therapies and Somatic Experiencing. I work with clients who have faced trauma and discrimination based on body size, sexuality, gender, gender expression, race, ability, and relationship structure.

Therapy Specialties

  • Depression / Anxiety

Therapy offers a guided space for addressing the underlying roots of depression and anxiety. While it's common to grapple with feelings of hopelessness, evidence-based techniques truly can provide relief.

  • Trans / Queer / LGBTQ

Gender and sexuality affirming therapy offers a space to stand in the fullness of who you are. This can be both daunting and empowering. Affirming therapy strengthens your sense of self, improves well-being, and may illuminate a need for change.

  • Health at Every Size

Every body is a good body. Diet culture is destructive to well-being and silences our innate body wisdom. Body liberationist therapy roots out diet culture while finding your inner body wisdom and turning up the volume.

  • Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy combines talk therapy and somatic interventions to find relief and release from the cognitive, emotional, physical, and relational consequences of trauma. It’s not your fault and you can heal.

  • Non-Monogamy

Whether you are coming to therapy to discuss non-monogamy or you want a therapist who won’t get caught up while you need support with another topic, having a therapist who gets you and doesn’t need to be educated is mandatory.

  • Ketamine Support

Sessions include psychological and practical preparation and support for feelings, experiences, and ideas that may arise during treatment with your doctor. Clients may need to explore both challenging experiences and rapid improvement.

Clinical Practice Values

  • Trust & Skill

Maintains high professional standards according to the laws and ethics of my profession; holds highly sensitive information in confidence without wavering; follows best practices and evidence based methods of care; provides high quality, effective, and consistent care.

  • Competent Care

Like the warm light from a lantern when a tool to grasp is exactly what you need to be brave enough to go out into the woods. Kind and also effective; courage gathering; hope instilling; space making for the conditions of healing. Warm like a cup of tea at just the right time with someone who has hella trauma training.

  • Justice Sweet Justice

Not just theoretically knowledgeable of intersectionality, but invested in how my clients are impacted in the day to day; skill and care for not only the trauma my client has individually experienced, but also for collective and generational trauma and resilience.
